How to Iron on a Patch
🧵 How to Iron On a Patch (Quick Guide)
🧰 What You’ll Need:
- 🔹 Iron-on patch
- 🔹 Fabric item (jacket, bag, jeans, etc.)
- 🔹 Household iron (steam turned off)
- 🔹 Thin cloth (like a tea towel or pillowcase)
- 🔹 Ironing board or flat heat-safe surface
1️⃣ Prep Your Fabric
🧼 Lay your fabric flat and make sure it’s clean and wrinkle-free.
✅ Best fabrics: cotton, denim, canvas
❌ Avoid delicate fabrics: nylon, silk, or stretch materials
2️⃣ Heat the Iron
🔥 Set your iron to the cotton/high heat setting (170–200°C / 340–390°F).
💧 Turn off steam and let the iron heat fully.
3️⃣ Position the Patch
📍Place the patch adhesive side down where you want it.
📏 Double-check the placement — once it's on, it’s on!
4️⃣ Cover and Protect
🧣 Lay a thin cloth over the patch to protect it from direct heat.
5️⃣ Iron It On
🕒 Press the iron firmly down for 25–35 seconds.
❗ Do not slide the iron — just press and hold.
🔁 Repeat in sections if your patch is larger than the iron’s surface.
6️⃣ Seal the Back (Optional but Stronger)
🔄 Flip the item inside out.
🔲 Iron the back of the patch area for 15–20 seconds.
7️⃣ Cool and Set
❄️ Let it cool completely for at least 10 minutes.
💪 This helps the adhesive bond fully with the fabric.
✨ Pro Tip:
For extra durability, especially on items that get washed often,
🧵 Stitch around the edges after ironing.
